THE 448TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT
MISSION STATEMENT
Each of the district courts in the County has jurisdiction over criminal and civil
cases. The 448th District Court is designated as a civil court only. The court sets
hearings for civil jury trials, civil bench trials, wrongful termination, slip and
falls, discrimination, damages, asbestos, expunctions, workers compensation,
contracts, summary judgments, default judgments, pre-trial hearings, motions
and other civil matters. The Court is headed by a State District Judge.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Goal: To serve the State of Texas, the County of El Paso and the general public
more efficiently in all judicial matters in accordance with the laws of the state
of Texas.
Objective: To reduce the court docket through the use of mediation and pre-
trial motion hearings when possible and to increase the efficiency of this court
through automation used for preparing and tracking cases on the docket.

The Court is located on the fourth floor of the El Paso County
Courthouse at 500 E. San Antonio in downtown El Paso, Texas. It is an
open court and the public is invited and encouraged to visit or observe
the court proceedings at any time.
